The word colon cleanse is a short abbreviation of the actual term used for this procedure as given by medical specialists. It is actually referred to as colon irrigation and involves a procedure that entails taking some kind of cleaning and disinfecting agent (usually natural) and injecting it into the cavity of the colon either directly with the use of surgical instruments from the anal opening or by ingesting cleaning agents that react in the colon.
